In February 1955 one guy (Iida.san) saw in the warm Izu area on some field around Kawazu town (Shizuoka prefecture) nice trees with cherry blossom and couldn’t believe his eyes because it was way too early for cherry blossom, only plum blossom start around this time …
The rest is history – these cherry blossom trees are very specific, their farming started in the 1960s, more professional in the 70s and now lots of people come and visit the Kawazu Sakura (people also say Kozu Sakura), combine cycling along Kano river and other activities every year in February, enjoying this very nice’n early cherry blossom not only in Shizuoka but also Kanagawa prefecture and around (also/vgl. auch: https://t1p.de/qda7) …
